Product Overview

The Sony Module SMO-F551-SD is a Magneto-Optical Disk Drive that is a kind of optical disk drive capable of writing and rewriting data on a magneto-optical disk. A storage method, used in rewritable optical disk drives that combines magnetic and optical recording techniques. MO drive system achieves its high data density by using a laser and a magnetic read/write head in combination. Both the laser and the magnet are used to write data onto the diskette. Magneto-optical disks are also known as magneto-optical drives and MO drives. This MO drive, removable media capacity 5.2GB with 5.1 MB/s internal data transfer rates. Average seek or access time of the drive is 25 milliseconds and 4MB buffer size. Drive Interface of this drive is Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) which is a standard interface for connecting peripheral devices to a computer.
